helping seniors stay mentally nimble
What is Creative Engagement?
It is a service created by Nancy Watson to help retirement residences augment their activity calendar with stand-alone programs designed to actively engage residents; not just entertain them.
The most effective brain fitness programs contain a variety of activities, puzzles and games which is why Creative Engagement is comprised of an assortment of fun and challenging programs.
Please click on the links below, or the images above, to learn more about each component. One or more of them can be introduced into your residence.

PLAY READING SILK PAINTING STORY NOOK
Maintaining these programs requires preparation and an abundance of fresh content, which is a daunting challenge for a busy Activity Team. That’s why Nancy would assume full responsibility, making each one a worry-free add-on to your daytime or evening itinerary.

About Nancy Watson
After a career in real estate management, Nancy Watson became a management consultant to facilitate being a caregiver to both parents while also getting her MBA.
Subsequent to her widowed mother being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, Nancy began applying methods from Montessori, Teepa Snow and others. When her mother moved into an independent suite in a retirement home, Nancy joined her because she wanted to preserve her mother’s freedom and support her in leading a purposeful and dignified life.
Observing first-hand the vital importance of stimulation and socialization for any senior, Nancy volunteered to create and lead programs that actively engaged other independent residents e.g. Play Reading and Silk Scarf Painting.
Initially, Nancy and four residents formed a Classic Movie Lovers’ Club which supplied four movies a month. Nancy spearheaded the transition to a larger, more interactive group and assumed responsibility for the residence’s entire Movie Program. Responding to residents’ requests, Nancy expanded the monthly calendar to 50+ films which included concerts, opera, ballets, skating, stage musicals and plays.
With the goal of enriching the lives of more seniors, Nancy wants to help other retirement communities implement engaging and organic activities.
